Dr. Andreas Kaufmann: “2023 is the best year in Leica’s history”

Phototrend published their interviews with Cyril Thomas, CEO of Leica France (from the 2023 Salon de la Photo 2023 show), and with Dr. Andreas Kaufmann. Here are a few quotes:

“You should know that for the Q2, which is in its fourth year of life, we have never sold so many boxes in France.”

“For the moment, the Q3 has taken off like a rocket. We have huge orders, we sell a lot of boxes, it is very well accepted on the market.”

Dr. Andreas Kaufmann indicated in our recent interview that 2023 was the best year in Leica’s history.”

“In France, we have been experiencing strong growth for 5 years, with double-digit growth every year.”

“I think Fujifilm has always been very strong in hybrid medium format. For the moment, we are stopping S3, but I think there will be plans for a future S4.”

“The second point is watches. We never claimed that we were going to make thousands of watches, that’s not the goal. But we are very strong in opto-mechanics and micro-mechanics. Under the hood of a Leica M, there are more than 1000 parts. In a very beautiful watch, there are 250 parts with a certain level of complication.”
