Confirmed: base Leica M11 models discontinued to make room for “new ideas and state-of-the-art innovations”

In an interview with Thephoblographer, a Leica Camera representative confirmed my previous report that the base Leica M11 models are now discontinued (see B&H Photo, Adorama, and Leica Miami listings):

“The Leica M11 camera continues to be the tool of choice for creatives around the world, thanks to its innovative design and unique photographic experience. Although some of the Leica M11 variants, such as the original black and silver models, have been phased out in alignment with the lifecycle of these cameras, new variants have been introduced, with the Leica M11 Glossy Black Paint, Leica M11-P cameras, Leica M11 Monochrom and Leica M11-D cameras. We look forward to pushing the boundaries of the Leica M11 camera system further with new ideas and state-of-the-art innovations, to provide visual artists with an even greater diversity of creative options.

I think the comment about “new ideas and state-of-the-art innovations” hints at the rumored Leica M11-V (or M-V) camera with a built-in EVF.
