Additional information on the limited edition Leica M11 Monochrom camera marble sculpture by Casper Braat x Leica Store Lisse and the Leica M11 Monochrom Leitz Wetzlar limited edition digital camera with a specially designed Leica flight case – both available exclusively at Leica Store Lisse (dedicated page):
It is with great pleasure that I introduce the Leica M11 “Leitz Wetzlar” Monochrom Marble Edition — a masterpiece at the intersection of precision engineering, contemporary art, and timeless design.
This extraordinary edition follows in the legacy of the very first Leica Monochrom collaboration with Ralph Gibson in 2013. Today, in partnership with renowned artist Casper Braat, Leica presents a creation that elevates the Monochrom concept into a work of art in its own right. Braat, celebrated for sculpting everyday objects from Carrara marble, brings his monochrome vision to life in perfect harmony with the Leica M11 Monochrom’s black-and-white identity.
The Edition :
Each set embodies the fusion of craftsmanship and artistry, comprising :
- Leica M11 Monochrom camera, engraved with the exclusive “Leitz Wetzlar” insignia
- Leica Noctilux-M 1:1.2/50MM ASPH. lens
- Marble sculpture of the Leica M11 Monochrom and lens in white Carrara marble
- Black Marquina marble pedestal for the sculpture
- White Carrara marble pedestal for the camera set
- 3 pieces of bespoke Leica flight cases to house the complete ensemble
Every detail is executed with uncompromising precision: each marble sculpture carries the same limited-edition number as its corresponding camera and lens, creating an unbreakable one-to-one connection. From the engraved serials to the markings on the lens, fidelity is absolute.
A Monumental Legacy:
To crown this project, Casper Braat has created a singular 8,000 kg marble Leica M11 Monochrom sculpture, now welcoming visitors at the entrance of the Ernst Leitz Museum in Wetzlar, Germany. This monumental piece serves as a lasting tribute to the art of Leica and the vision of this collaboration. The sculpture was released last week at Leitz Park:
