f22 foto space is a gallery established in September 2017, with a focus on photo-art and contemporary design, following the founding of F11 Foto Museum in 2014.
Since its opening, f22 has successfully organised exhibitions featuring Jing Huang, Simon Go, Michel Eisenlohr, Yan Kallen, Bee Lau, plus a number of seminars and tours relating to the exhibitions. Currently, f22 is showing Palani Mohan’s solo exhibition – “Wind Water”.
f22 has a camera boutique, photo bookshop and a café. The camera boutique offers new and fine vintage cameras, lenses and accessories, as well as professional advice, to our customers and the most discerning collectors. It is an authorised Leica dealer. (Webstore: www.leica22.com) The photo bookshop offers a wide range of photo books, including new, fine vintage and out of print publications. The café is a nice gathering place for arts and cultural activities. It also provides a cozy space for budding photographers to share their works.
The design of f22 has won the German iF Award, Red Dot Award and Taiwan Golden Pin Award.
It is inspired by camera elements such as apertures and lenses. To create a cinematic entrance, the door has an overhead aperture to control the amount of light at the entrance space as it rotates, while the circular staircase plays with light, shadow and speed. Both the door and the staircase are fabricated with brass and painted in black. Over time, the black paint would wear off, revealing the brass underneath. Just like a black-paint leica camera, showing the interaction with the photographer.
