In few hours, at 5:00pm Paris time, the Leica Camera and Magnum Photos event “Past. Present. Future.” will start where the new M9-P camera plus Leica Super Elmar M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH lens will be unveiled. I will be posting updates from the announcement as I get them on Twitter (hashtag #leicamagnumparis).
A quick update on the new Leica 21mm M ASPH lens that will be announced next week with the M9-P: the aperture will probably be f/3.4 and not f/3.8 as previously reported.
Today Panasonic announced a new Leica branded DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. The lens will cost $1099 and will be available on June 17, 2011. Some sample images are available here. Panasonic also disclosed plans to release a professional level GF camera.
