Ming Thein published his review of the Leica M type 240 rangefinder which includes many sample images – definitely worth reading/seeing if you are considering purchasing the camera. A quote from the review:
Leica Camera published several photographs on their blog taken in Kyrgyzstan with R telephoto lenses on the new M rangefinder.
In an email to a customer, Leica Camera confirmed that they are working on a new firmware update for the M8 digital rangefinder that will support the new Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2.0 ASPH lens (currently shipping in the US for $7,195.00).
I received some information that the Leica M release date has been delayed. B&H also recently changed the expected availability date to April 30, 2013 (previously, the shipping date was February 28).
The new Leica M digital rangefinder is now listed for pre-order on Amazon in black and silver. The camera qualifies for the 2% back in rewards from Amazon (read more about this offer here).
Leica Camera uploaded some sample images from the new Leica M camera (pre-order options) on their website. You can download the full size JPG and DNG files from this link (under the “performance proof” link). Unless there is a delay, the new M should start shipping at the end of February.
