The new and updated Kamerakraft LM10GRIP V2 grip for Leica M10 cameras is back in stock (limited supply)

The new and updated Kamerakraft LM10GRIP V2 grip for Leica M10 cameras is now in stock for both black and silver finish. This drop will be sold out quickly – only 20 pieces are available in black and 8 in silver.

Update – Kamerakraft grips are currently out of stock, but you can check the latest IDS Works modular grip for different Leica models.

The updated LM10Grip v2 has some new features: an improved mechanical lock on the battery door (the v1 had a magnet) and an overall better finish. The Arca rail, standard tripod thread (1/4″), and secondary SD holder remain unchanged. Additional information from the product listing:

  • Made from solid 6061 aluminum
  • Compatible with each and every Leica M10 variation body*. This includes the Leica M10, M10-P, M10-D, M10-R, M10-monochrom.
  • An extra hidden slot will allow you to store an extra SD card inside the handle.
  • Quick-access hinged door that allows you to remove your battery and SD card while leaving your grip attached to the camera.
  • Tripod quick lock rail (ARCA standard) and standard 1/4″ screw are present to ensure maximum compatibility.
  • Beautiful aesthetics that won’t ruin your beautiful Leica slim line! It actually replaces the original Leica baseplate. The black and silver anodizing have been made to get very close to the original finish.
  • A grippy profile that will let you hold your camera with only two fingers.
  • Available finishes: Black anodized or Silver anodized body. Matte black grip handle.

Migrating to a new server, expect some hiccups this weekend

LeicaRumors will be migrating to a new server this weekend (starting at 10 pm tonight EST). With the increased traffic and a large number of posts (almost 6,000 posts, 20,000 pictures, and over 45,00 comments), it is time to move to a server with a new generation of processors. In theory, the migration should be seamless – we will be using live migration technology that promises no downtime – it will just require a reboot (a downtime of about two to three minutes). Let’s hope that will be all.

The Leica M camera will be 70 years old next year – expected many new products in 2024

The Leica M camera will be 70 years old next year: the Leica M mount was introduced in 1954 with the Leica M3 (Wikipedia). Going even further back in time: in 1923, Barnack convinced Ernst Leitz II to make a preproduction run of 31 cameras to test. In 1924 Ernst Leitz decided to produce the camera. The official introduction was at the 1925 Leipzig Spring Fair as the Leica I (for Leitz camera). This makes 2024 an even more important year for Leica (Wikipedia).

Here are the first rumors on what to expect next year:

  • Leica is planning a major release for the next generation of M cameras to coincide with 70 years of the platform, so don’t expect anything major to be announced until next year (2024).
  • Three cameras will be released in a variety of finishes, including one that has never been used before.
  • The 70th-anniversary event will also mark the release of the next generation of Leica watches.
  • Thanks to the success of their line of legacy lenses and the newly released Leica M6, the company is now considering new designs based on pre-M cameras but with M-mounts.
