Breaking: Leica will bring back to life the M6 film camera!

It seems that my initial report about a new cheaper Leica M film camera was correct – Leica will indeed announce a cheaper film rangefinder:

Leica will bring back to life the M6 camera!

There are still some questions I do not have answers for (yet):

  • Leica M6 Classic or Leica M6 TTL?
  • Price?
  • Limited edition?
  • Any improvements over the original M6?
  • Why was the M6 chosen and not the M3? Did they find some old new stock M6 parts/cameras?
  • Why not improve the Leica MP further instead of bringing an old model back to life?

The new Leica M6 camera is rumored to be announced in October.

The old Leica M6 camera currently sells for $2,00-$3,000 on eBay.

The Leica M7 was discontinued back in 21018.

The Leica MP and Leica M-A film cameras seem to be still in production, but have been very hard to find and are usually out of stock in the US (you can get them cheaper in Europe):

Save over $1,000 by buying Leica M cameras from Europe (all Leica M film cameras in stock at Meister Camera)

The black Leica MP 0.72 rangefinder film camera will be in stock in… June 2027

Leica Store Lisse lost their Facebook page – please give their new page some love

Facebook continues to do what they know how to do best – mess up with your social media presence. Over the years I lost multiple Facebook pages, groups, and accounts without any explanations and it seems that this trend is continuing today…

One of our sponsors  Leica Store Lisse recently experienced a similar faith – the Facebook page they curated carefully and built for over 10 years was shut down overnight without any warnings or explanations. They now have a new page and are trying to regain their old following – please give them some love at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083289035088 – they provide some great Leica-related content:

Voigtlander HELIAR Classic 50mm f/1.5 VM 50th anniversary red limited edition lens listed for sale on eBay

In my last recap, I already mentioned about the Voigtlander HELIAR Classic 50mm f/1.5 VM 50th anniversary red limited edition lens for Leica M-mount (only 50 lenses were produced).

A reader alerted me (thanks!) that the lens is now also listed for sale on eBay for $1,480.

Cosina should have contacted me to send them a few red anodized metal M-mount lens caps – the plastic black cap is hideous.

Here are a few more pictures from the product listing:
