TTartisan 50mm f/0.95 lens reviews

A compilation of the latest TTartisan 50mm f/0.95 lens reviews:

Update: TTartisan lenses are available for sale at the PhotoRumors Online Store with free international shipping.

→ TTartisna 50mm f/0.95 lens review at 47-degree:

Pros

  • 0.95. Wohoo!
  • Pretty good quality build
  • Good haptics
  • Great price
  • Quite sharp in the centre even at 0.95
  • Incredible flare resistance wide open
  • Minimal focus shift
  • Reasonable coma wide open
  • Bokeh can be luscious
  • User can tune focus calibration

Cons

  • Spherical aberration wide open
  • Really prominent LoCA
  • LaCA can really ruin the images (for me)
  • Astigmatism off axis
  • Far corners never get acceptably sharp
  • Close focus shift
  • Magenta colour shift
  • Vignetting never disappears
  • Complex and fairly heavy distortion
  • Bokeh can get wiry and nervous
  • User has to tune focus calibration
  • Big and heavy for an M-mount camera
  • Viewfinder obstruction

→ TTartisna 50mm f/0.95 lens review on the Leica SL2 at Hintingimage:

Pros

  • Much more affordable than Noctilux.
  • Adjustable focus if you are willing to spend time to match it with your Leica M rangefinder coupling.
  • Nice balance of size and weight with Leica SL2.
  • Good enough performance for the asking price.
  • Very nice out-of-focus bokeh at close focus distance with very quick dropoff for subject isolation.

Cons

  • Optically it is not fully corrected. Flare, coma and astigmatism is visible at open aperture if you look for it. Colour cast, purple fringing can be corrected in post. Slight wavy distortion is also visible. I just applied the Noctilux profile in Lightroom and do not notice the aberrations on real world usage.
  • No 6 bit code (need to be selected manually in camera or in raw developer).
Big and heavy (as it should, matching the original).
Busy bokeh at medium focus distance.

→ TTartisna 50mm f/0.95 lens review at Phillipreeve:

Pros

  • f/0.95
  • Bokeh (mostly)
  • Sunstars
  • Build quality and handling

Cons

  • Corner sharpness
  • Flare resistance
  • Coma correction
  • Vignetting
  • Wavy distortion

→ TTartisan 50mm f/0.95 lens in-depth review by ErickPHOTO with image samples:

These charts are both at f/0.95 and they show that the TTArtisan is lightly sharper in almost every tangential or sagittal lines! Look at the aperture at f/5.6 for T30 we are starting at 85% and stays above 60% even on the 15 value which is getting closer to the edges of the frame. If you also compare the MTF charts to the almighty Summilux 50mm Aspherical at f/5.6 we see that the TTartisan lens has better scores
