The upcoming Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 camera to have a new 24MP CMOS sensor?

Leica-M-Monochrom-Typ-246-24MP-camera
I am not sure about the authenticity of the picture above that is floating on the Internet, but I think we can be pretty sure that the upcoming Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 camera will have a 24MP CMOS sensor (the current model has a 18MP CCD sensor).

Why I Choose The Leica M: Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, Focal Point

Starting today Louis Ferreira (www.500px.com/LouisFerreira) will start contributing articles to Leica Rumors. His first post addresses why he selected the Leica M system:

During the transition to digital I tried many camera systems and read many articles to find a camera that fit me, but when the first digital M hit the market I was intrigued. None of the articles I came across did a good job of explaining the rangefinder window or M style of shooting. Instead, they focused on the luxurious brass build quality and its fit/finish, which is a shame because the shooting experience is the reason photographers should covet the M.

Leica will have a new product “on display” during the Paris Photo event in LA

Leica-Paris-Photo-new-product-on-display
According to Leica’s website, during the Paris Photo fair in LA (May 1-3, 2015) there will be a “new product” on display. If this is the new Monochrom (I seriously doubt it), the camera will be only on display – the official announcement will most likely happen later.

The new Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 camera will not be announced tomorrow

Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 camera
Several websites are reporting that the new Leica M Monochrom Typ 246 camera will be announced tomorrow. I don’t think this will happen. I could be wrong, but there is a pattern of events that happens before a big Leica announcement and I don’t see any of that right now. Like I already mentioned a week ago, I expect the announcement to be in 30-60 days.

You still may want to mark May 1st on your calendar and visit LeicaRumors because I will have some good news to report for Leica shooters.

One Camera, One Life” is another short documentary about the Leitz family and their efforts to rescue hundreds of Jews during the Holocaust:

I heard that a new narrative motion pictures is currently in production and will be released soon.
