New world record: a 1923 Leica 0-series camera sold for $2.95 million

The 32th WestLicht camera auction just ended in Vienna and a new world record was set for a 1923 Leica 0-series camera that was sold to a private collector from Asia for €2.4 million euro including premium (around $2.95 million). Only 25 Leica 0 cameras were produced. The previous auction record was also set by a Leica 0-series camera that sold for €2.16 million in 2012 and €1.3 million in 2011:

Warning: the Leica M10 N08 camera prototype listed for sale on eBay for $35k is fake

An update to my post from a few days ago: the Leica M10 camera prototype and 50 Noctilux lens listed for sale on eBay for $35k by Setadel Studios are fake – Leica Camera confirmed to me that it does not mark prototypes in this particular fashion (N08) and deemed this to be a fake.

Update – the same seller has two more limited edition prototype cameras. The first one is a Leica M9-P Meisterstuck limited edition prototype:

Leica Camera, in collaboration with Marcus Wainwright of rag & bone, released a new Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) ‘Stealth Edition.’

Limited to just 125 sets worldwide and designed by Marcus Wainwright, CEO, Founder and Creative Director of the New York-based fashion brand rag & bone, the special edition camera comes with a Summicron-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH lens.

The price for the camera and lens is $15,750 (pre-order link: Leica Store Miami). Shipping starts on March 20th.

Leica M10 prototype with 50 Noctilux lens listed for sale on eBay for $35k

A silver Leica M10 prototype camera #N08 is currently listed for sale on eBay by Setadel Studios together with a matching 50mm Noctilux f/0.95 ASPH with the same serial number (N08). The price is $34,995.

This is the prototype pre-production series before the camera went into full production. Lecia made a few fully functional prototype cameras before the M10 was released. This was the most desirable with the best and nicest matching Noctilux 50mm 0.95 ASPH Silver lens. There were other cameras with other lesser lenses but this was the nicest and also the one with the best #8. Lucky #8! I had the prototype MA with a 35mm f1.4 FLE that I sold for $32,500.

New: Leica Store Dubai Mall and Leica Q “Dubai Store” limited edition camera

A new Leica Store Dubai Mall was officially opened on March 5th, 2018 – this is the first Leica store in the Middle East. There is also a new Leica Q “Dubai Store” special limited edition camera. The camera has a silver finish and the top is engraved with the geographical coordinates of the store, located inside the Dubai Mall right adjacent to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The new Q version will be exclusive to the Dubai Store and only 36 pieces will be made.
