Sterling silver soft release buttons for Leica cameras

UPDATE: I am no longer involved with the original project because of some shady practices from the people I was working with. If you are still interested in purchasing sterling silver soft release buttons for Leica cameras, please check Jay Tsujimura’s work. There are some other companies trying to copy his work, but the quality is not even close to Jay’s work.

New accessory: Extended Spring Roll Camera Jacket for Leica M/Leica Q

The Japanese brand EXTENDED (Extended Photographic Material) introduced a new product called Spring Roll Camera Jacket designed to protect mirrorless cameras. The name comes from the way you roll the camera inside the jacket. The back side has velcro and two snap buttons to securely lock around the camera. Both sides of the cover are open, which means that you can keep your existing strap when using the Spring Roll Camera Jacket.

The Spring Roll Camera Jacket is compatible with Leica M, Leica Q, Fuji X-Pro and other cameras of similar size.

Additional information:

  • Name: Spring Roll Camera Jacket
  • Color: Black
  • Size: 155mm x 290mm (open)
  • Lens cover diameter: 70mm
  • Lens cover length: 55mm
  • Retail price: JPY 12,800 (around $110 and they do ship internationally)

The new Leica TL Titanium camera is now listed as discontinued at B&H:

I am not sure if this is a mistake or Leica decided to cancel the Titanium finish.

The Leica TL Titanium is currently on backorder at Adorama, while Amazon has only one in stock.

The Leica TL was announced in November last year.

Be aware of “attrape” Leica cameras and lenses

Dumb Leica CL camera and 40mm lens

“Dumb” Leica CL camera and 40mm lens

Macfilos published an interesting article on “attrape” Leica cameras and lenses:

A Trap. When you think of it in these terms, Leica’s word for dummy cameras and lenses makes sense. Attrape comes from the French verb attraper, meaning to catch (a ball, or a cold for that matter) but is also used in the English sense of “being caught” or conned. From as early as the Leica III, Wetzlar has been at attraping us with a wide range of very authentic dummies, mainly intended for display purposes.

Some “attrape” Leicas can be found on eBay.

Something interesting – all Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH Edition 0.95 lenses included an “attrape” model of the same lens:
