Firmware update 2.0 for Leica SL mirrorless camera system released

Leica released firmware update 2.0 for their SL mirrorless camera system. Some of the improvements are improved AF, 1/16,000 shutter speed, 529 AF points (up from 49) and more:

Faster focusing, higher precision and optimized subject tracking
New direct exposure compensation
Images in DNG format can now be magnified for better evaluation

New firmware enhances camera performance, handling and workflow

Leica Camera has released a new firmware update for the mirrorless Leica SL camera system. Firmware version 2.0 can be downloaded by registered Leica SL owners from the Leica Owners’ Area (https://owners.leica-camera.com). Alternatively, customers can bring their camera to any Leica Store or Leica’s Customer Service department in the UK, for a complimentary update service.

Leica M-D Typ 262 camera is coming for sure

I already broke the news that Leica will announce a new M-D Typ 262 camera similar to the M Edition 60 ($16,280). The new model will not have a LCD screen on the back (only an ISO dial). The M-D Typ 262 name has already been registered in Korea.

A month ago I noticed that the official Leica M-D page already exists: if you go to http://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/Leica-M-D you will get access denied (403 Forbidden) instead of the regular “404 not found” that usually comes up when you type a wrong URL, for example: http://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/LeicaRumors:
