Robertwhite (a major UK retailer) published on their website that the Leica MP and MP à la carte production is temporarily halted till early 2012 “due to the discontinuation of an integral component“:

Based on the last stament from Leica Camera AG, “There have been 15 cases of this problem, which is equal to 0.05% of the total units sold” we can conclude that Leica has sold 30,000 M9 cameras since 09/09/09. This equals to approximately 40 cameras a day.

Leica Camera AG released its interim financial report for first quarter of the 2011/2012 fiscal year. Sales are up 28.7% compared with previous year. Leica has also taken “measures designed to improve stock availability”. Here is the full report:
Leica Camera Group maintained its growth during the first quarter of the new fiscal year. At EUR 72,313,000, sales were 28.7% up on the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year (EUR 56,176,000), while the consolidated net income for the period under review, influenced by such factors as a higher contribution margins, rose by EUR 1,403,000 to EUR10,829,000 (previous year EUR 9,426,000).
Annual General Meeting of Leica Camera AG approves dividend / year concludes with record sales / Board of Management reaffirms results forecast
On August 12, 2011 in the Wetzlarer Rittal-Arena, the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) of Leica Camera AG, Solms resolved to distribute a dividend for the first time since 1997. The dividend will be €0.30 per share. The AGM thus approved the proposal made by Leica Camera’s Board of Management and Supervisory Board.
The AGM rounded off a successful 2010/2011 fiscal year (April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011) for Leica. The members of the Board of Management received a 99 percent vote approving their actions. The auditors BDO Deutsche Warentreuhand were once again appointed to perform the audit both of the AG and of the Group as a whole. The AGM also confirmed the Supervisory Board membership of Patrick Thomas, a director of Hermès International SCA, and appointed businessman Christian Raoul Skrein-Bumballa to the Supervisory Board.
