New Leica cameras pricing and availability

So far only the Leica D-LUX 5 is available for pre-order on Amazon through Willoughby’s:

The official word from Leica on pricing and availability of the just announced products:

  • D-Lux 5: $799.00
  • V-Lux 2: $849.00
  • X1 Black: $1995.00
  • M9 Titanium: $26500.00
  • D-Lux 5, V-Lux 2 and the black X1 will be available in the U.S. beginning October 2010. The M9 Titanium will start shipping at the end of November.

Leica @ Photokina day 2

David Farkas continues his detailed coverage of Photokina (many Leica S2 updates inside). The Leica M9 Titanium edition is not only a price and cosmetic-wise different than a regular M9. One of the main changes on the inside is the elimination of the small window that gathered light to display the frame lines with a LED illumination (I heard also that the M9 Ti has a new shutter). David Farkas took a picture of how the new LED illuminated frame lines look through the viewfinder of the Leica M9 Ti:

Leica S2 updates

Some more Leica S2 updates from the latest LFI magazine:

  • New S2 with double size internal buffer memory (25 pictures vs. 10 pictures now)
  • New adapter for Hasselblad V and Pentax 6×7
  • New firmware with smaller DNG files
  • Clipping function in the menu
  • New 24mm and a 30mm lens
