Really Right Stuff releases Leica L-plate design

A follow up on my previous post about the upcoming Leica L-plate from ReallyRightStuff:

“Here is the prototype design for our new L-plate. Small details may change, but the essential elements are all in place.
As we hinted before, the passionate voices of our Leica shooters dictated a fresh approach to the design of this plate. Instead of a standard L-plate that mounts to the camera’s tripod socket, our plate actually completely replaces the Leica base. This replacement base will have an integrated dovetail for mounting in a Really Right Stuff clamp. Use the base alone as a conventional plate, or add an optional vertical component to create the L-plate. This vertical component will screw precisely to the base using our standard hex key.

Leica V-Lux 20 update

Today the Leica V-Lux 20 was introduced only to certain dealers in some countries . The official announcement to the public will be on April 20th, 2010. I was told that the camera design is much better than the Panasonic ZS7.

In the mean time new pictures taken with the V-Lux 20 were uploaded by one of the photographers who is testing the camera.

The new camera from Leica will be called V-Lux 20

I got some info on the new camera name – it will be called Leica V-Lux 20 (and not C-Lux 20 as previously reported – the EXIF data was correct). Some dealers can already place orders for the upcoming Leica V-Lux 20. The reason they decided to go with a V instead of a C model is probably because of the long zoom – 12x (the camera will be based on the Panasonic ZS7, so expect exactly the same specs).
