WHO:

Share your photographic story with images of unmatched brilliance. Leica Camera invites patrons to channel their inner artist and experience photography with two of the world’s finest cameras, the Leica X1 and M9, throughout the duration of the New York Photo Festival.

Leica is synonymous with superlative German engineering and a special culture of the picture and represents mastery in optics and mechanics, high-quality design and outstanding craftsmanship. The Leica X1 delivers the best picture quality among compact cameras and features a professional CMOS sensor that is as large as those in high-quality SLRs combined with an exceptional Leica lens. As the world’s smallest full frame digital camera, the Leica M9 carries the proud heritage of the Leica M system into the digital age.

WHAT: During the New York Photo Festival, Leica will have coveted X1 and M9 cameras on-site for complimentary loan for a period of up to three hours. Patrons may also participate in complimentary Leica Akademie Lectures that teach the art of photography by providing insight on how to capture breathtaking imagery through the viewfinder of a Leica Camera. Small class sizes and personalized interaction with an experienced Leica instructor inspires students to share images, techniques and insights.

Photography enthusiasts, amateur and professional alike, are encouraged to participate in a Scavenger Hunt featuring notable Brooklyn landmarks. Following the clues, discover and capture some of the fascinating and historic sites of DUMBO and the surrounding areas in breath-taking quality.

The best images from the Scavenger Hunt will be selected by Leica and displayed in a showcase of photographic expression during an evening exhibition and reception on Saturday, May 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A credit card and ID must be provided in exchange for the borrowed camera. Participants may either bring their own SD memory card or purchase one on site.
