Latest two-day workshop in the Leica Akademie Masterclass Series – Environmental Portraiture with Sarah Lee and Justin Sutcliffe

Leica Camera has announced the latest in its new series of Leica Akademie Masterclass workshops: Environmental Portraiture with Sarah Lee and Justin Sutcliffe.

This two-day workshop, which takes place on Friday 11 – Saturday 12 March 2016, is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience from two leading professional photographers, and will cover the following:

– an insight into the daily rigours of a professional photographer and personal overview of their portfolios
– a review of the attendee’s own portfolio
– a shooting assignment with a theme of ‘Environmental Portraiture’
– a light-hunting exercise
– an introduction to post-processing and workflow

About Sarah Lee

Sarah Lee is one of the UK’s foremost documentary and portrait photographers. Turning professional at the age of 21 whilst studying for her Masters Degree. Sarah has rapidly become one of the principle contributors at the Guardian. Specialising in portraiture features and the arts, her work has been featured not only in print throughout the world, but also on the album artwork of several Coldplay records. In recent years, her concentration on portrait practice has seen two works selected for the world’s pre-eminent photographic portrait prize The Taylor Wesssing exhibition at London’s National Portrait Gallery. This year Sarah was approached by BAFTA to bring her unique photographic vision to their awards ceremony. About Justin Sutcliffe

Justin Sutcliffe, is a highly respected photojournalist and portrait photographer whose work for important international publications, corporations and NGO clients has taken him to more than eighty countries. Born in the UK, he moved to New York in his early twenties and set up a successful photographic business covering US current affairs for the UK and European magazines. Returning to the UK just before the millennium, Justin has been based around London for the past fifteen years, during which time he has covered conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, the middle east and west Africa and social upheaval in Pakistan, the Moscow Theatre Siege, as well as the Indian Ocean Tsunami. Justin’s work has been accepted into the permanent collection of several major museums and has been featured in the World Press Photo, American Photo 19 and The AOP awards. Four of his works have been selected for the Taylor Wessing portrait prize since 2012, including the opening two images in the 2015 exhibition. In addition to his photography, Justin has also been involved with the YPA, respected US and UK mentoring program.
