Rumors: Leica Q2 with 47MP sensor, Leica S3 with 64MP sensor

The latest version 1.1.0 of the Leica FOTOS app already contains a listing for the upcoming Leica Q2 camera which is an indication that the official announcement is coming soon:

Nikoshita also reports that two different resolution settings were added in the app – 47MP (for the Leica Q2?) and 64MP (for the Leica S3?) – this confirms the Q2 rumors I reported last year:

  • No changes to form factor, focal length (28mm), or aperture (f/1.7)
  • A significant increase in megapixels resolution
  • The increased resolution will enable additional “digital zoom” crop option at 75mm focal length (currently only 28mm, 35mm and 50mm are available in the current Leica Q model)
  • The Lecia Q2 is expected to be announced in 2019
