Rock n Roll Straps & Bags has introduced a new series of handcrafted leather camera straps under the name Classic – Drum-Tanned. The collection revisits the proportions and construction style of traditional photographic straps from decades past, with an emphasis on simplicity, durability, and long-term character.
The straps are made from full-grain Natural Tan leather that has been drum-tanned — a process where the leather is slowly worked in barrels to soften it naturally while preserving its strength and structure. The result is a strap that measures 3.5 mm thick, yet feels supple and broken-in from the first use.
At 13 mm wide, the design follows the slim proportions commonly seen on vintage Leica M film cameras. The strap remains understated and discreet, visually balanced with Leica M, Q, and SL bodies, as well as other mirrorless systems.
According to the company, the drum-tanning process enhances flexibility and comfort while allowing the leather to develop a deeper patina over time. Each strap is cut and finished by hand and is available in two lengths: 100 cm and 125 cm.
