Light Lens Lab released additional information on the new 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic” lens for Leica M-mount (pre-orders just opened):

The 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic” marks Light Lens Lab’s first step into apochromatic photography and the first release in the High Performance Series—a new line dedicated to advanced optical correction, precision manufacturing, and distinctive rendering.
After completing the 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic,” we will continue developing apochromatic lenses in additional focal lengths based on its optical performance and rendering characteristics. Beginning in 2027, the series will expand with a newly developed 50mm lens, followed closely by other focal lengths. Each lens will receive its own newly developed optical design.

Key Features:

Independently Developed High-Performance Optics:
The 35mm f/2 “Apochromatic” is the first release in the Light Lens Lab Apochromatic Series and establishes a new family of independently developed optical designs.

Advanced Apochromatic Correction:
Multiple ultra-low-dispersion and anomalous partial-dispersion glass elements suppress chromatic aberrations while preserving fine tonal transitions and natural colour.

New Floating Optical System:
The compact 11-element, 6-group optical design incorporates a floating lens optical system and four aspherical elements, maintaining high performance throughout the focusing range and enabling a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 m.

High-Transmission Multi-Layer Coating:
A newly developed coating further suppresses chromatic aberration and purple fringing in demanding backlit conditions while maintaining clarity and contrast.

Refined Rendering at f/2:
The lens delivers high sharpness, excellent distortion control, smooth out-of-focus areas, and natural transitions. Images retain fine tonal gradation, delicate detail, and a warm, natural colour character.

Precision Mechanical Construction:
Miniature bearings within the precision-machined focusing mechanism provide smooth and robust operation. Titanium-alloy and aerospace-grade aluminum versions combine precise construction with a timeless, compact design.

Shipping Schedule:

Titanium Gray: Initial shipments are expected to begin on September 30, 2026, with fulfillment continuing through November 2026.
Black Paint and Silver Chrome: Shipments are expected from August 2026 through January 2027.

Titanium Grey Limited Edition Availability

The Titanium Grey Limited Edition will be available for preorder only from August 10 through September 10, 2026 and will be limited to a maximum of 998 units worldwide. As with our 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” Titanium Limited Edition, the production quantity will be determined by the number of confirmed preorders received during this period and may be adjusted in future due to the technical challenges of titanium manufacturing.

The Titanium version will include a specialized magnetic E39 clip-on Lens hood. Please note that the video illustration is for prototype purposes only. There will be more refinement, such as position notches and holders for a more secure fitment, to be refined in the production model.
