The finish is brown mordant – a ground coating wich is used by Leica to protect the metal and as a holding primer for the lacquer paint. The price including tax is €18,880, the net export price is €15,875. Here is the product description and a few additional pictures:
On the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of the Leica Store Berlin we have developed an innovative special edition of the Leica M Monochrome (Type 246) camera including a Summilux-M 1.4/50mm ASPH. lens. The set is limited to ten copies worldwide and convinces with an unmodified surface refinement which has never been used before !
The camera housing with all controls as well as the lens are treatened with blue stain. BLUE STAIN is an intermediate step in production and stretches as the carrier surface for a later painting. Instead of the varnish we sealed the BLAUBEIZE (german) two times.
This gives the combination a unique look which on one hand underscores the tool character but on the other hand also conveys a subtle elegance. This edition is also a tribute to the City of Berlin. By renouncing any colour design in the engravings of the camera and lens a habitus which seemed almost unfinished at first glance has been created. This forms an optical bridge to the constantly changing and further developing and pulsating City of Berlin.
