New Leica D-Lux 7 camera 007 edition announced

This new OpticExplorer lens simulator / database has the details on 50 Leica lenses

Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lens

Optic Explorer contacted me about their new lens simulator/lens database website (http://www.opticexplorer.com). You can use this web application to simulate the characteristics and performance of many lenses. They have a sizable database of existing lens designs that can be searched for and simulated. You can explore the lens database and play with lenses, light sources etc. without logging in or creating an account. If you want to create your own library of lens designs, you can create an account to store and share your designs. In either case, it’s free to use.

The latest Leica Summilux 35mm f/1.4 V1 “Steel Rim” lens will get a redesigned hood

I was told that the latest Leica Summilux 35mm f/1.4 V1 “Steel Rim” lens will get a redesigned hood.

Leica is rumored to redesign the round hood for the new Steel Rim remake since the current lens hood causes a vignette when used with filters (first reported by Fred Miranda). Leica’s customer service has confirmed that they are redesigning the round hood and will ship it out to existing customers.
