Panasonic LX100 Mark 2 camera leaked online, will there be a new Leica D-Lux?

The new Panasonic LX100 Mark 2 (LX100II/LX100M2) camera just leaked online – the official announcement is next week (August 23rd). I will be interesting to see if Leica will also refresh their current Leica D-Lux model ($1,095) that was announced 4 years ago.

More Leica M10-P details and specifications, announcement rumored for August 21st

I have some additional information to report on the rumored Leica M10-P camera:

  • No red dot logo
  • New shutter which Leica claims to be “virtually silent” making it the quietest digital or analog Leica camera ever made
  • The top plate Leica lettering will be similar to the previous Leica M-P model
  • The Leica M10-P will be available in two different colors: black or chrome
  • New touchscreen controls such as swiping & pinch zoom
  • Built-in level gauge (not clear on whether this is only in live view or also accessible through the viewfinder)
  • Same sensor, processor, LCD (Gorilla Glass), ISO, connections, frame selector, buffer as the M10.
  • Dimension: 139X38.5X80
  • US price: $7995 (the M10 is $7,295)
  • The new Lecia M10-P will be announced on August 21st at 9am EST, stay tuned for a detailed coverage

Drawing it’s size and ergonomics from a Leica classic – the Leica III, the CL is a small and sexy little camera.

It’s actually the smallest camera I’ve owned (including the micro 4/3 Pen-F)!

As for my history – I’ve used quite an array of cameras and lenses. I’ve owned Canon, Leica, Sony, Fuji, and Hasselblad. Therefore, I have an extensive library of shots and experience from most major camera brands.

I’ve been going through a phase where I value 3D depth in my images. I sold my Fuji X-Pro2 kit because I felt the images where “flat” compared to my other larger- sensored-cameras. So I was a little apprehensive about going back to an APS-C camera. However, the appeal of owning a Leica “Mini-M” with a built-in EVF, and Autofocus was too strong.

More on the upcoming Leica digital camera code name 4529

Some additional information on the new Leica digital camera registered under the code name 4529: the new model will be made in Germany and it will not have any wireless connectivity which I find very strange (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth not installed).
