Probably the last Leica M9 Titanium camera available now for sale

Since the last time I covered it, the price of this (probably last) Leica M9 Titanium limited edition camera on Amazon went down from $35k to $28k which is slightly more than the original price of $26,500.

New firmware version 1.174 for Leica M9 released

Leica Camera released new firmware update v.1.174 for M9/M9-P cameras that should fix the SD card compatibility issues reported few months ago:

Leica Camera has become aware of customers experiencing compatibility issues related to select types of new memory cards when used in the Leica M9. This Firmware 1.174 fixes a bug that led to the faulty behaviour. Generally Leica recommends to use SD / SDHC Cards from San Disk. Until further notice, the following SD-Cards are still not recommended to use, because some misbehaviour occurred in the test phasis.

– San Disk Extreme Pro SDHC I UHS-1 (all card sizes)
– San Disk Extreme HD Video SDHC I (all card sizes)

A quick note that Kodak sold its Image Sensor Solutions (ISS) business to Platinum Equity. Kodak sensor are currently used in the Leica M9 / M9-P / S2 cameras.

Leica to capture 1% of world camera market in 10 years

Just saw that on Bloomberg: Leica Camera aims to capture 1% of the global camera market within 10 years. Currently the company has 0.15% of the global camera market. China is expected to overtake the US as Leica’s biggest market in the next 5 years.

Leica Camera AG reports 28% sales increase in the first half of fiscal year 2011/12, sales and earnings forecast increased

Today Leica Camera AG announced increased sales in the first half of fiscal year 2011/12. Sales and earnings forecasts for the remaining of the years were raised:

Leica Camera AG, Solms, consistently pursues its course of innovation and growth in the first half of the current fiscal year 2011/2012. Following the record results in fiscal year 2010/2011, the Company in the first half of the current fiscal year has increased sales of cameras, lenses and accessories by 27.9 %, from € 110.8 million to € 141.7 million, as compared to the corresponding prior year period. At € 33.1 million the Group’s operating result (EBIT) is € 19.2 million higher than in the corresponding prior year period (€ 13.9 million).
