After I initially reported it as a rumor last year and the leaked details from two weeks ago, the new special limited edition Leica M-P “Correspondent” camera by Lenny Kravitz for Kravitz Design is now officially announced.

The camera and lenses are intentionally aged by hand. Only 125 pieces will be produced. The kit includes two lenses (Leica Summicron-M 35 mm f/2 ASPH and Leica Summilux-M 50 mm f/1.4 ASPH) and a bespoke case. The 50mm Lux lens is based on the classic design from 1959:

The price of the kit is $24,500 and you can already pre-order it at the Leica Store Miami and Leica Store San Francisco. The set will be sold only in Leica boutiques.

The Oskar winner movie “Birdman” was shot with Leica C lenses:
On the night of 22th February, 2015 the 87th Annual Academy Awards® took place in Los Angeles. One of the big winners was the Film Birdman with four Oscar Awards. The film was shot through CW Sonderoptic’s Leica Summilux C-Lenses, which already had won the Scientific and Engineering Award on 8th February. Birdman received the Oscars® for the Best Picture, Original Screenplay, achievement in cinematography and best director.
The Leica Summilux-C lenses recently received the Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
