The official list of fixes after the break:
This is an official letter from Leica (I have the actual PDF file, so it is real):
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
We would like to inform you that you we will put a new Firmware-Update 1.116 for the LEICA M9 onto our homepage. The free of charge download is expected to be available by Monday, March 15, 2010. All new LEICA M9 are being shipped with the new firmware as well.
The improvements in the Firmware Version 1.116 are:
1. Camera Performance:
2. Bug fixes:
3. *SDHC card compatibility
The choice of SD and SDHC cards in the market is very large and is constantly growing. Therefore, Leica Camera AG is not able to do comprehensive compatibility- and quality testing with all available cards in the market. We do recommend the card types in the list below. Using other card types, will not damage camera or card, but as especially “no name” cards do often not respect the full SD or SDHC standards, Leica Camera AG cannot warranty full function with other cards than in the list.
Continue after the break (list of compatible SD-cards):
There has been some illustrations online indicating that Ricoh may produce a cartridge for Leica M lenses. Yesterday DC Watch posted a report from the CP+ Camera and Imaging Show 2010 (Japan) and one of the pictures shows a Ricoh GXR camera with a Leica M lens:
The Ricoh GXR system has interchangeable cartridges that contain the sensor and lens (mount) in one piece (more info available here and here).
Press release:
Leica partners with John Wright – UK celebrity and fashion photographer
08/03/2010
Leica Camera Ltd has announced a partnership with UK celebrity and fashion photographer, John Wright, for its recently-launched professional camera system, the Leica S-System.
As part of the agreement between Wright and Leica, photographers will be able to experience the S-System first hand through a series of activities including interviews and photographic sessions, and workshops at the Leica Store Mayfair ‘Studio S’. John will also use the camera for a number of high profile shoots throughout the year.
Wright’s meteoric rise to the top of the celebrity photography sector has seen him become the premier provider of images in music, television and show business across the world, creating some of the most iconic editorial pictures of the past few years.
His picture of Lily Allen dancing with panthers became one of the most-talked-about images of 2009, appearing on magazine covers across the world before eventually winning ‘Magazine Cover of the Year’, while his incredible composition – Artists of the Century – took ten months to shoot in 27 locations across three countries with 34 of the biggest names in popular music eventually appearing in one image. Wright featured prominently in news reports around the world as the last photographer to have a portrait sitting with the late Michael Jackson.
