Leica sent out invitations for a “special highlight” event on April 24th. If you are a LeicaRumors reader, this should not be a surprise because few months ago I already reported that the long awaited Leica T type 701 mirrorless camera will be announced in April. The new camera is expected to have an APS-C sensor and will mostly likely be produced in Germany, while some of the lenses could be made in Asia.

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of accession to the throne of Sultan of Brunei on 1st October 1992, the royal family ordered 350 sets of 24 carat gold-plated Leica M6 Sambutan Jubli Perak. The national totem of Sultan engraved on the top plate and “Sambutan Jubli Perak” engraved at the back. The camera is decorated with red lizard skin embossed ornamentation. The camera comes with Summilux-M 1.4/50mm lens in 24 carat gold-plated (#3653542), engraved “Sambuton Jubli Perak 5 Oct 92”. The commemorative number is the lucky number HB-018. This set comes with wooden box and certificate, in like new condition.
