The Singled Person from leica camera on Vimeo.
“The Singled Person” is an installation of eight unsynchronized slide projectors displaying photographs by eight international photographers: Michael Ackerman, Morten Andersen, Lorenzo Castore, Thorsten Kirchhoff, Peer Kugler, André Lützen, Hisashi Murayama and Filippo Romano. It offers a subjective lecture on the relationship of the individual and his environment. The traveling installation is currently on view at the 7th Annual Wiesbadener Fototage through September 25th. This slideshow, set to the sound of a projector, shows a sampling of the work of each photographer.
Leica Camera issued an update on the M9 / SD card compatibility issue:
A specially set up team at Leica Camera AG has been working in close collaboration with SD memory card manufacturers on an intensive investigation of possible causes for the phenomenon reported by Leica M9 users. As no clear pattern has so far emerged on the basis of the error reports at our disposal, this investigation is proving to be extremely laborious. In the meantime, we have been able to narrow down the number of possible causes of the error. Nevertheless, we must unfortunately call your attention to the possibility of errors still occurring with newer SD cards and that such errors are not limited to particular brands or types of card.
In a recent interview with Asiaone, Leica Camera CEO Alfred Schopf mentioned again their future plans for a new system camera that will fit between the current M and X lines:
“We are at the borderline of compact-system cameras already, with the Leica X1 and Leica M-System, and it’s pretty obvious that, at one point, we are going to offer something in between. But we have to look very carefully into what sensor parts we are using and what features we are offering.”
For some reason the author of the article uses “Micro Four Thirds” to describe mirrorless cameras. Leica has said on numerous occasions that they are not interested in the Micro Four Thirds format.
According to this press release, Leica has selected the location for the next Washington DC store:
Casual French eatery Le Pain Quotidien and exclusive retailer of photographic equipment Leica Camera, Inc. will soon fill the last available retail bays at 975 F Street, NW, in DC’s East End. Akridge and Seaton Benkowski & Partners today announced the two 10-year leases that will bring their Carroll Square development to 100 percent occupancy this year. Both new retailers have already begun build-out on this prominent corner of the historic F Street shopping district.
B&H currently has a black Leica M9-P in stock again. This won’t last long. In the next 2 days you can get a $50 gift card from B&H with purchase (see yesterday’s post). B&H also has a silver M9 in stock.
