Epson working on a new digital rangefinder?

Rob Clark (executive director of Epson Europe Marketing Division) mentioned in an interview with AP that Epson is working on various new digital camera technologies and the company sees a possibility for a new version of the Epson R-D1 digital rangefinder:

“Whether we come out with another version of the R-D1 is a possibility”

The Epson R-D1 was the world’s first digital rangefinder camera and was introduced back in 2004.

Leica’s sales of cameras, lenses and accessories is up 140%

Leica Camera AG released some sales figures for the first half of their fiscal year (April 1st – September 30th, 2010):

Total sales: EUR 110.8 million compared to EUR 59.5 million from last year
Sales of cameras, lenses and accessories is up 140%: EUR 87.7 million compared to EUR 36.6 million from last year

This is a quote from the CEO of Leica Camera AG, Alfred Schopf (Google translation):

“After the successful turnaround in the last fiscal year and the launch of new products in the last few months running the business for Leica more than positive.
