why don’t you be the first to own a leica camera here too?

So how come silver lens is more expensive?
Its not heavier so its not brass.
Is it just cause its fancier looking?

    • christopherpuchta

Yes, it’s heavier…about a third more than the black one.

I have the silver version, it’s definetly made of brass. It’s more expensive because it’s a limited edition. The lens is silver but metal hood and cap are black as standard: it might sound odd, but they look really nice on the silver body. (BTW, I can’t say how it performs on a Leica, since I use it on an OMD-Em5, but output is really really close to Summilux 50mm f1.4)

Watch the stevehuffphoto video on the tube.

Thats cool. 🙂 i glanced at the above spec sheet and didnt see the weight difference.
I have a M3 with a silver summicron and occasionaly use it on OMD.
Leica lenses are definitely nice on m43.

I wonder how they will perform on future FF Nex camera.

I have the old one with screw mount and M adapter – a very sharp and nice lens!
