Quick hands-on review of the Handevision IBERIT lenses on a Leica M10 camera

Several readers have been asking me to post some sample photos taken with the new Handevision IBERIT lenses for Leica M mount (check pricing and availability at B&H and Adorama). Here are 37 sphotos taken with the Handevision IBERIT 35mm f/2.4, 50mm f/2.4 and 75mm f/2.4 lenses on a Leica M10 camera (the jpg files are straight from the camera, no correction or post processing, full resolution pictures can be found on flickr):

The Handevision IBERIT lenses have a smooth focusing ring and good ergonomics. The lenses are pre-6-bits-coded, meaning the white markings are present on the lens but you still have to fill them up with a black marker (click on pictures for larger view):

The Handevision IBERIT lenses for Leica M mount can all focus at minimum 0.7m and come with two types of lens caps – plastic and metal:

The first batch of IBERIT lenses had some issues when attached to Leica M film cameras. The issue is now fixed:

Some vignetting is noticeable when using the current lens hoods but the company has already developed new versions that will be available soon – probably with the next shipment. Please note that all sample photos here were taken with the old lens hoods, here are the new designs:

In general, all third party M-mount lenses are bigger than the original Leica versions and the IBERITs are not an exception (left: Voigtlander Heliar Vintage Line 50mm f/3.5 VM, center: Leica Summilux M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH):

Some lens flare and purple fringing are noticeable in the sample photos (you have to open the full resolution version on flickr for a better view):

Few comparisons between the Voigtlander Heliar Classic 75mm f/1.8 VM ($699) and the Handevision IBERIT 75mm f/2.4 ($568). The first picture is from the Voigtlander Heliar Classic 75mm f/1.8 VM lens (the jpg files are straight from the camera, no correction or post processing, full resolution pictures can be found on flickr):

On flickr I also have another comparison between the Voigtlander Heliar Vintage Line 50mm f/3.5 VM, Handevision IBERIT 50mm f/2.4 and Leica Summilux M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lenses. In general, the images from the IBERIT lenses are sharp, but with less contrast when compared to the Leica or Voigtalnder versions. I am planning to do some black and white testing with the IBERIT lenses, so stay tuned.

Handevision IBERIT lenses for Leica M mount can be purchased at B&H and Adorama.
