This is the new Leica M Typ 262 red anodized aluminum limited edition camera

Yesterday in an event in Wetzlar, Leica Camera revealed their latest Leica M Typ 262 red anodized aluminum limited edition camera I reported about two days ago (the top and bottom plate are made of solid red anodized aluminum.). Only 100 pieces will be produced. The price is expected to be around €6,600 (approx. $7,800). For comparison, the price of a regular M 262 body is $5,595 (around $2,200 premium for the limited edition).

Here are some additional pictures of the new camera courtesy of milanswolfs.be (more photos from the event can be seen on their Facebook page):

It looks very awkward to me, the red anodized color does not suit the Lecia, looks like a color scheme from a transformer movie or something like that. again this is just me, Apple does the same with their iPhones – ‘product red’

A bit of bling never hurt anyone, right, brings a bit of color to a product. With Leica expect to pay that $2k for the red ano.

Those really aren’t the best product photos. A few of them make the red look more like a red-orange. Im sure it looks much better in person without all the different glare you get with indoor photos.

    • The official press photos should be out soon.
