  • Wow that’s amazing, killer firmware update!

I just updated my T to FW 1.7 after not using it for a while. Mine was still on FW 1.5. I was hoping that 1.7 would finally allow the ‘auto review’ function to actually turn off when set to ‘off.’ But alas, I still get a ~2 second auto review each time I snap a pic. Does anyone know how to actually turn this function OFF on the T? Heck, I might replace it with a TL2 if that function finally works!!!!

My T was suffering the same issue and the 1.7 firmware did correct it partly. Now the picture will show up for about 1/3rd of a second which is acceptable to me. I’ve read online it is similar issue on the TL2. Notice that you can make this picture disappear faster depending on the speed of your SD card and your JPEG settings. The lower the Jpeg quality…the shorter will be displayed the picture. Of course…if you only shoot Jpeg and not in DNG like me…this is not an option.

I have not applied this update so I am not clear that it addresses anything other than new lens support.

Auto review is one of the most annoying thing about the T. Even when turned off you get the last image visible while the buffer is being written. Continuous shoot mode only compounds the issue. In a bizarre twist using a flash ( on board or external) will completely suppress any review.
I have come to terms with this state of affairs and usually use the one second review setting as a fixed and known cycle. In a way this is a design limitation of mirrorless cameras, the view finder is performing at least two distinct functions: live view and file review. Whereas the dslr viewfinder has a single dedicated function.
DSLRs have allowed a generation of photographers to learn to anticipate less, shoot first and ask questions later.

The TL2 certainly has less lag and write to file latency. The auto-review issue is negligible. But the crisp three dimensional review image of the T is gone. The TL2 real-time review image is disconcertingly fuzzy.

I have shot a lot with these bodies. My other kit is Nikon Dfs. The leica Ts can be very nervous little fillies. You just have to get settled into the saddle.
