Leica SL2-S now in stock, sensor measurements published at PhotonsToPhotos

The new Leica SL2-S mirrorless camera is now in stock at B&H Photo.
PhotonsToPhotos published their Leica SL2-S sensor measurements – here are a few comparisons with other cameras (click for larger view):
A new cheap Leica M film camera is rumored for 2021

Leica is rumored to announce a new (cheaper) Leica M film rangefinder camera in 2021 – something similar to the Leica M6 TTL that you can buy today on eBay for around $2,00-$3,000 (above is a picture of my own 0.58 M6 TTL I bought dirt cheap years ago with a red cap from the online store). I don’t have any other details yet, but if you do, please contact me anonymously here.

Leica still sells the M-A mechanical film camera (pictured above) that is priced at $5,200 – so I can see how a new cheaper version can make sense.

More Leica Noctilux M 50mm f/1.2 Heritage limited edition lens rumors

Some new rumors on the upcoming Leica Noctilux M 50mm f/1.2 Heritage limited edition lens (previously rumored here, here, and here):
- Limited edition – only 100 silver lenses and 1800 black lenses will be produced (the silver/black ratio doesn’t make sense to me, but this is the info I got)
- The lens will be available in silver and black (previously rumored only in silver)
- New pricing rumors: €15,000 and not €8,500 as previously reported – the pricing for the silver and the black version could be different
- Shipping will start at the end of January
Spending time with the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH lens

“Spending time with the LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH lens” by Moritz Philip Recke (Facebook | Instagram):
Some reflections on using an f/0.95 lens
Advertised as a lens that outperforms the human eye, the LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. is considered the best 50mm lens by many. Beyond bokeh worship and any aficionado praise for the romantic, dreamy and surreal look it produces, it is indeed a lens with state-of-the-art optics and unique characteristics. So I was happy to spend some time with lens and see if all the fuzz is for real.
“The world’s fastest aspherical lens” (source: Leica Camera AG)
During a recent lens service by Leica, I was able to lend the Noctilux lens for some weeks through the company operated Leica Store Düsseldorf, while my lens received some love and care in Wetzlar.
Of course, I have looked at the lens countless times and felt its weight. Still, there is a difference in putting it on your own camera. Even though the Noctilux is a huge and heavy lens (700g) in the rangefinder realm, I was surprised by its compactness. Maybe this is because of my recent trials with the huge vintage Leitz Summicron 90mm f/2.0. I don’t feel like I need a camera grip to counterbalance the lens, even though many insist on it.
