The Leica M Edition 60 limited edition camera set is already sold out at most Leica stores. The Leica Boutique Montréal still has one in stock and until April 30th they have dropped the price to 17,775 CAD (around 13,300 USD). The original US price at launch was 18,500 USD.

The Leica M Edition 60 limited edition set was introduced in 2014 and consists of a Leica M-P digital camera (Type 240) and Leica Summilux-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH lens, both created by Audi Design. This was the first Leica digital camera without a LCD screen.

New server and HTTPS for LeicaRumors

In the past week I have been busy upgrading LeicaRumors to a new server at HostDuplex. The old server could no longer handle the increased traffic. You also probably already noticed that LeicaRumors is now a “secure” website (HTTPS) which is the industry’s standard today. A lot of other changes were also introduced on the back end that should improve the overall user’s experience on the site. If you see any strange behavior, please add a comment to this post.

PentaxRumors and PhotoRumors are also now “secure” websites and NikonRumors will be transitioned over by the end of the week.

‘Kintsugi’ to be held at Leica Mayfair, 5-26 May 2017

Leica UK is to host ‘Kintsugi’, a brand new exhibition by Koo Stark, in Mayfair from 5 to 26 May 2017.

Kintsugi is a chronological, visual representation of Koo Stark’s powerful and personal photographs, capturing fleeting moments during the last three decades of her fascinating and eventful life.

Koo will showcase a varied collection of work from the 1980s to the early 2000s, in the Studio at Leica Mayfair. Koo’s work covers many genres and subject matters: from her early reportage, formal studio portraiture, a series of nudes, and recent still life. Using her artist’s eye, daylight, film and camera, Koo shows us moments from travels with her guru, and a captivating new body of work depicting her lifelong interest in yoga.

Leica Rumors recap: new Noctilux lens and TL camera

A quick recap of the latest Leica rumors:

New Noctilux

The latest rumors about a new Leica Noctilux M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH lens were a bit strange: the actual wording of the leaked document was “NOCTILUX-M 75” and we all just assumed that this will be a new Noctilux M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH lens. I received some additional information on the possible scenarios here:

New Leica TL camera

A new Leica camera under the code name 5370 was already registered with different government agencies. Here is what to expect based on information I received recently:

  • Interchangeable lens camera with TL mount
  • Small and compact size (see dimensions here)
  • Integrated EVF (something like the Leica Q, but with APS-C sensor and TL mount)
  • The sensor will not be 16MP (most likely 24MP)
  • Code name “Clooney”

The Meyer-Optik Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 is a full frame lens that is known for its “soap bubble bokeh”. The lens was born from a Kickstarted project in 2015 that raised almost $360,000 and is now available for purchase at B&H. The lens comes in many different mounts, including Leica M. Limited edition titanium and gold plated versions are coming soon. The company also produces 50mm f/2.9, 58 f/1.9 and 75mm f/1.9 lenses for M mount and currently  have an ongoing Kickstarter for a new Trioplan 35mm f/2.8. Later this year a new Primagon 24mm f/2.8 lens will be announced (priced at $5,499)

Here is a quick report on using the Meyer-Optik Trioplan 100mm f/2.8 lens for M mount ($1,599) on the Leica M10 camera, but first a brief history of the lens:
