The previously rumored Huawei Mate 9 smartphone is now officially announced and it features a dual-lens Leica camera with “enhanced image fusion algorithms” for improved image quality (12MP f/2.2 with RGB sensor and 20MP f/2.2 monochrome sensor):
Leica announced a new Leica D-LUX Typ 109 “Explorer Kit” that comes with automatic lens cap and an “exclusive” red carrying strap made from cotton. The US price of the Explorer Kit is $1,145 (pre-order: Leica Store Miami). A “regular” D-Lux is currently priced at $1,095, while the auto lens cap is $59. Shipping will start mid-November. The UK price is £920 including VAT.

Several (4 to be exact) new MS Optics Apoqualia-G 28mm f/2 lenses for Leica M mount are currently available for sale on eBay for $1,334 (update: available also n the French website Taos Photographic). All MS Optics lenses usually sell out pretty quick, so I don’t expect those to last long. The Apoqualia-G 28mm f/2 is the latest lens designed, manufactured and hand-assembled in Japan by Mr. Sadayasu Miyazaki – additional information can be found here.
