Leica UK rumored to discontinue the popular Passport Warranty

Rumors are floating online that Leica UK may discontinue the popular 1 year Passport Warranty starting from April 1st, 2016. Leica Passport covers any damages that happen during the first year of ownership.

Update: I received a confirmation that the Passport Warranty will be canceled in the UK – it was originally setup to balance the price difference between EU and UK, now prices are more or less the same across the EU and there is no reason for it.

Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH lens officially announced

Today Leica Camera officially announced the Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 ASPH lens which has been already shipping in limited quantities. The bad news is that the price went up (from €1,900 to €2,150). The price in the US also went up from $1,995 to $2,395. This is a big/strange price increase when almost every other Leica product in the US is currently selling for 12% off.

Cosina augmented reality iOS app lets you put any lens on your Leica camera

Cosina released a new app that can create augmented reality of different Voigtlander lenses attached to your Leica (or any other brand) camera. You need to get the iOS app (available for iPhone and iPad), download this AR tag, place it on your camera mount and the app will do the rest.
