Westlicht now has a full list of Leica cameras that will go for auction on December 4th, 2010. The “star” of this auction is this Leica MP2 black paint – the starting price is EUR 80.000 and it’s expecting to sell for around EUR 150000-180000:
“The MP-2 was the first experimental M cameras with electric motor drive built in the late 1950’s, only 6 cameras were produced in black paint finish, only 4 are known to exist”
Startup time
First, startup comparison – judging by the time it takes for the lens to be fully extended, the Leica D-Lux 5 has a faster strartup time than the D-Lux 4 (on the video, the D-Lux 5 is on the right):
The D-Lux 5 is also much quieter – the sound you hear on the video is coming from the D-Lux 4.
x17online reports that Brad Pitt’s Leica S2 camera got stolen in Budapest. The same website shows a series of pictures of the actor with what appears to be a Leica R8 camera (and not S2). At least we know that Mr. Pitt is shooting film 🙂
Two months ago LFI magazine already mentioned about the upcoming Leica S2 adapters for Hasselblad V, Pentax 6×7 and Mamiya 645 lenses. Today PDNonline reported that Leica is planning to release those adapters by the end of the first quarter of 2011. The article also mentions that currently such “homebrew” adapters are available on eBay, like for example this Leica S2 Lens mount adapter for Hasselblad lenses:
Everyone that has been using a Leica D-Lux 4/5 or Panasonic LX 3/5 knows how annoying it is to remove the lens cap every time you turn the camera on. I have posted a DIY guide in the past on how create your own auto lens cap and now you can purchase it directly on eBay for $17.99 (or a best offer, free shipping, US based seller):
You can see all available eBay sellers here.
