Leica D-lux 4 Lensmate Adapter now available

As reported earlier, this is the Lensmate LX3/D-Lux4 46mm lens adapter:

Precisely machined from 6061 aluminum, in either black or silver anodized finish they complement the style of the Panasonic LX3 and Leica D-Lux 4. Allows the attachment of:

  • filters
  • step rings
  • conversion lenses

Also protects the delicate zoom lens and mechanism from damage.

The OEM lens cap was designed to clip into the trim ring (which is removed to attach a lens adapter tube) rendering it useless when you want to use a lens adapter.

Lensmate felt the OEM lens cap was so beautiful that they wanted to keep the integrity of the camera’s look and have designed lens cap adapter tabs that let you keep using the OEM cap even with a lens adapter or with any standard 46mm filter attached. They go on with a snap and are easy to remove when you want and retain the full function of the cap. Great for traveling and street photography – you can leave the camera on, ready for action without worrying about bashing that gorgeous Leica lens.

Leica M9 concept sketch

I did post this link few days ago, but here are the actual concept sketches and appropriate discussions which I find very interesting. I hope Leica AG has already looked into that, since there are some interesting suggestions (like the AE-L lock button). Here is the first Leica M9 sketch:

and the more “traditional” approach:

D-Lux 4 and LX 3 have different lens coating?

Update: now there is a dpreview discussion on this topic and it seems that few other people think that the coating is indeed different. I guess the price difference is not only for the brand name and the jpg processing.

Interesting side-by-side comaprisson between Panasonic LX 3 and Leica D-Lux 4 – it seems that the lenses have different color reflection. Aren’t they suppose to be the same? Maybe this is just a visual illusion? See for yourself and let us know what do you think.

Leica M8.2 Safari official

At least this time we have an official press release from Leica. The first M8 Safari comment I came across this morning was: “Let me know when they produce a version covered in reticulated Ostrich testicles and I just might be interested” (source). I am not the target audience for this model but if I had the means, I would buy one.
