Here are the latest Leica M12 camera rumors:
- New Gpixel sensor (which probably also means a new processor, battery, etc).
- The Leica M12 could come in two different versions: fixed-bottom base plate or classic removable (“Heritage” edition).
- Leica tested IBIS for the M12 model – not sure if it will be implemented.
- Leica M12 re-designed controls possible:
- The ISO dial on the top left could be completely removed
- Large 3.9″ screen on the back (the M11 has a 2.95″ screen)
- The large screen could also mean changing the layout of the buttons on the back of the camera (or maybe removing them altogether).
- The Leica M12 camera could be 3mm shorter.
- The M12 could feature a smart hybrid vision rangefinder (classic rangefinder experience + EVF benefits, similar to the Fuji X100 camera).
- The Leica M12 trademark is still listed as “dead/abandoned” – possibly because other companies already own the “M12” trademark. The Leica M12 trademark status in the United States Patent and Trademark Office is currently listed as “active”.
- The M12 is rumored to be released in 2027.
