This is part 2 of the previously published guest post Shooting an NBA basketball game with the Leica M10 camera and Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens by Onasj (see also his previous guest posts):

I had the opportunity to shoot a second NBA game with the M10 and the 135 APO, this time the incredible game 2 of the eastern conference semifinals (Philadelphia Sixers at the Boston Celtics on May 3, 2018). I learned a great deal from my earlier attempt and also from the feedback of this forum. This time I devoted more shots to the atmosphere and environment, rather than predominantly focusing on the action.

Update: the Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens is NOT discontinued

I received several emails from dealers who after talking to Leica’s headquarter confirmed to me that the Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens is not discontinued and can still be ordered.

It seems that the post from Erwin Puts who initially reported the discontinuation of the lens has also been removed.

The Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens is currently in stock at B&H, Adorama and Amazon.

The Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens is discontinued

Erwin Puts reports that the Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens has been discontinued:

“The M-system, once the backbone of the Leitz and Leica companies, is in danger of becoming a niche product and while still being a cash cow for the company, has no future and will not generate new sales. The annual sales of between 10,000 and 20,000 is not enough to increase the revenue to the level that the company owners and managers want to generate. The fact that there is a new edition of the Thambar and a discontinuation of the Apo-Telyt is significant. By the way: with the disappearance of the 135 mm the classic name of Telyt also vanishes.”

The Leica APO-Telyt-M 135mm f/3.4 lens is priced at $3,995 and is currently in stock at B&H, Adorama and Amazon.
