Firmware update version 2.1 for Leica SL rumored to be released next week

In addition to the upcoming Leica Q firmware update, Leica will also release a new firmware update version 2.1 for the SL mirrorless camera. The main changes are: tethered shooting and improved AF-C focusing plus several bug fixes. The firmware is expected to be released on Friday, July 29th.

Leica will work with other electronics companies

After the Huawei P9 smartphone, Leica will continue to work together with other electronics companies. The cooperation with Huawei was only the beginning – this is according to the German magazine “Capital” (issue 08/2016, EVT July 21). The exact quote from Leica CEO Oliver Kaltner was:

“There are lenses in every television, every console, action cameras, drones. We are open for further discussion. And we are currently in discussions.”

At one point Leica even tried to work together with Apple, but the negotiations fell apart (Dr. Kaufmann’s comment: “In my view, Apple is not a company that likes collaborations“).
