What’s next for Leica?

After the M10M “Leitz Wetzlar” announcement, here is an updated list of rumored/expected Leica cameras and lenses (see the previous lists here):

New high megapixels Leica M10-R camera (47MP) is rumored to be announced around September, 2020.

Leica S3 (delayed until spring 2020)

New Leica M 35mm Noctilux lens. Leica is also working on new Noctilux lenses, including a new 50mm Noctilux that is expected in a few years. A new special/limited edition Noctilux M 50mm f/0.95 lens is also rumored (with a vintage design?) Leica could also announce a new lens with an aperture below f/0.95 (f/0.7 for example).

New Leica SL lenses

Leica is planning to release/resurrect more vintage lenses in the future – new APO lens and 135mm lenses are rumored, also a new Leica APO Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 Asph lens with closer focusing capabilities (it could also be f/1.2). Leica is now working on “next-generation M lens design” that will be optimized for high megapixel cameras (long term plan, at least a few years until we start seeing these new lenses on the market). New versions of the WATE and MATE lenses are also being developed and are under consideration.

Leica L3 watch with a mechanical alarm complication

New Leica M mount camera with EVF is rumored to be in the works (already rumored before here): 24MP sensor, body similar to the M240. The camera will have a native M mount and will be offered as an alternative to the M10 (the pictures above are just a concept sent in by a reader).
