Hawkesmill Westminster camera strap review

The guys from Hawkesmill recently sent me one of their Westminster leather camera straps and I think I can clearly, without hesitation, say that this is one of the finest leather camera straps I have ever seen or owned. The leather is soft, the stitching is flawless, the wide shoulder patch is perfect for a Leica M camera. Yes, the price is high (£115 or around $150) but as usual – you get what you pay for. Several websites have already labeled Hawkesmill as the best camera strap in the world and I have to agree 100%. New Leica Q Silver Chrome camera to be announced in November

Leica is rumored to introduce a new Leica Q Silver Chrome camera in November. The new edition will look very similar to the Leica Q Titanium model pictured above but with silver chrome instead of titanium gray finish/color. Similar to the titanium version, the new Leica Q Silver Chrome edition will be limited and will be produced until March 2018. This also indicates that we should not expect a new Leica Q camera anytime soon.

New Leica APO-Summicron 50mm LHSA 50th anniversary lens

A new Leica APO-Summicron 50mm LHSA 50th anniversary lens with a classic retro design of the original 50 rigid Summicron was introduced at the LHSA 50th anniversary event in Chicago (previously reported here). The lens will be available in two finishes: black paint and silver chrome. Stay tuned for more details.

Bonhams is to sell the Leica camera with which Russian photographer Yevgeni Khaldei took Raising a Flag over the Reichstag, one of the most famous photographs of World War II. It is being offered at Bonhams Leica Centenary Sale in Hong Kong on 30 November and is estimated at £230,000-340,000 ($HK 3,000,000-4.500,000).
