New Leica APO-Summicron 50mm LHSA 50th anniversary lens


A new Leica APO-Summicron 50mm LHSA 50th anniversary lens with a classic retro design of the original 50 rigid Summicron was introduced at the LHSA 50th anniversary event in Chicago (previously reported here). The lens will be available in two finishes: black paint and silver chrome. Stay tuned for more details.

Bonhams is to sell the Leica camera with which Russian photographer Yevgeni Khaldei took Raising a Flag over the Reichstag, one of the most famous photographs of World War II. It is being offered at Bonhams Leica Centenary Sale in Hong Kong on 30 November and is estimated at £230,000-340,000 ($HK 3,000,000-4.500,000).

New Leica Sofort “LimoLand by Jean Pigozzi” edition camera to be announced on October 19 (Leica x Limoland)


On October 19th Leica will announce a new Sofort “LimoLand by Jean Pigozzi” edition camera (Leica x Limoland). The camera’s front and rear side are embellished with the graphics of “Mr Limo” – the logo of the LimoLand fashion label established by Jean Pigozzi in 2007. “Mr Limo” is the name Pigozzi chose for the colorful character that represents his fashion label. The Leica Sofort “LimoLand by Jean Pigozzi” offers the same technical specifications as the camera’s serial version. The LimoLand model comes with a matching shoulder strap, embellished with the Mr Limo design and made by Artisan&Artist. The official announcement is expected on October 19th, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. CEST. The price will be EUR 389,00 (incl. VAT).

Yesterday I reported about a new Andy Summers limited edition Leica camera – I can now confirm this rumor, here are two quotes from a recent Sonicscoop interview with Andy Summers:

“With so many expressions available to Andy Summers, that’s the one he puts first. But it can’t be an easy selection process, when this renaissance man has so many talents to choose from: literary (his memoir One Train Later is an addictive read), photographic (Leica just created a signature camera for him), filmmaker, family man.

I mean, for me, actually it’s a good year this year. I’ve got this record out. It’s going well. I got a signature camera being made by Leica. I should have very nice photo book out later in the year, and then also Fender making a new guitar for me, as well as a nice tour in Brazil and going back to China to play some stuff there. So yeah, it’s looking pretty good.”
