A new Leica camera model 8854 was recently (July 11th) registered at the Indonesian telecommunication agency. The camera has Wi-Fi and/or a GPS module and is “made in Germany” as the Leica SL, Q and T. The Indonesian telecommunication agency reports that the camera is currently being tested at their test centre (“Balai Uji” = test centre).

On July 19th Leica is rumored to announce a new, silver Leica APO Summicron M 50mm f/2.0 ASPH lens. I am not sure if the price will be higher than the current black version (currently priced at $7,795 in the US). Stay tuned for additional information.

I already reported about the new Leica Store Las Vegas few months ago – today Leica USA officially announced the opening of the first-ever Las Vegas Store, located in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace (right off the Las Vegas Strip’s ground-level entrance to Forum Shops). The Leica Store Las Vegas has the longest operating hours of any Leica Store, open from 10 am – midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10 am – 11 pm Sunday through Thursday. A rotating selection of prints are on display to showcase the inspiring imagery captured with Leica cameras.
A quick update on the Voigtländer VM 10mm f/5.6 Hyper Wide Heliar aspherical lens for Leica M mount – it will start shipping on July 21, 2016. The lens is still not listed for sale at B&H.
I received a tip that the HandeVision IBERIT 24mm f/2.4 lens for Leica M mount will be announced at Photokina. The picture above is a prototype of the new lens with a special surface finish in silver matt that was recently spotted in Germany by a reader.
