The end of Leica D-Lux 4 is near?

A dpreview reader got this email from an online merchant:

“the Dlux4 may not be made that much longer”

It is too early to discontinue one of the best p&s camera on the market today only after 8 months. On the other site, Leica has mentioned repeatedly that they will concentrate on the S and R series in 2009.

PhaseOne today released Capture One v4.8. From my account I could not download this version – only 4.7 was listed and available. Will try again tomorrow. If you have Capture One 4.x version (not PRO) this update should be available for free. Here is the link (registration required).

Olive Leica M3 were designed for German army, started from 1957 with last batch produced in 1968, according to the official Leica list there are only 144 left. The one we have here is a single stroke M3 S/N: 12069xx, which would make it part of the July 1968 batch. The companion are three lens (Summaron 35mm f/2.8, Elmar 50mm f/3.5, Hektor 135mm f/4.5), a Leica meter MC & Booster, with Bundeswehreigentum (means Military property) engravings.
Starting bid:€ US $35,000.00.
