After the Leica M10R announcement, here is an updated list of rumored/expected Leica cameras and lenses (see the previous lists here):
A new Leica Q2 Monochrom camera is still a possibility (should be coming in November according to this Instagram post but I cannot confirm that for now).
New Leica Q2 limited edition camera is rumored for October.
Leica is planning to release/resurrect more vintage lenses:
- Leica Noctilux M 50mm f/1.2 Heritage limited edition lens
- Leica M 35mm f/2.8 lens Heritage limited edition lens
- New APO and/or new 135mm lenses are also expected
New Leica M Noctilux lens: Leica is also working on new Noctilux lenses. A new special/limited edition Noctilux M 50mm lens is rumored (see above). Leica could also announce a new Noctilux lens with an aperture below f/0.95 (f/0.7?).
- Leica is now working on a “next-generation M lens design” that will be optimized for high megapixel cameras like the M10R (this is probably why we already started seeing some M lenses being discontinued).
- New versions of the 50mm Simmilux, WATE and MATE lenses are also a possibility.
- New 35mm M lens: the above-mentioned Heritage lens and/or a new a 35mm Noctilux super-fast design (something like f/0.8 or f/0.75?).
Leica L3 watch with a mechanical alarm complication (the first set of Leica watches from 2018 is still missing).
New Leica M mount camera with EVF is rumored (24MP sensor, body similar to the M240). The camera will have a native M mount and will be offered as an alternative to the M10 (the pictures above are just a concept sent in by a reader). In a recent interview, Leica representative called such camera “unlikely”.
