After the Leica M cinema lenses, Sofort camera and titanium M-P set announcements, here is an updated list (based on my previous post) on what else to expect from Leica at Photokina next week:
- New Leica T camera – I am pretty sure about this one (old model already discontinued)
- After talking to several of my sources, the consensus is that there will be no new Leica M camera at Photokina, especially after the announcement of the M-P Titanium limited edition set. Personally, I still think that Leica will surprise us and they will be a new M.
- There should be also new X camera(s) announcement(s) – two new “Made in Germany” cameras were recently registered at the Indonesian Communications Agency.
- New Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 lens.
- New Leica SL lenses (at least four new lenses, but most likely five).
- There is a very low chance that we will see any new Leica V-Lux, D-Lux or C compact cameras.
- Leica S – we may see a small refresh in the S medium format cameras but in general I do not see any big developments here.
- Sinar is also expected to announce new products at Photokina. Update: Sinar announced a new Sinarback S 30|45 with a Leica S lens adapter – more information available here (Leica purchased Sinar back in 2013).
