Allendale, NJ (July 10, 2012) – Leica Camera Inc., announced today the promotion of Roland Wolff to Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Retail, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Roger Horn, President of Leica Camera Inc., the American division of the legendary camera and sport optics brand headquartered in Solms, Germany. Mr. Wolff previously served as Director of Corporate Retail and joined Leica in 1998.

Leica Camera may move their stock listing to Hong Kong

Leica Camera may consider listing their stock in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Economic Times reported. Alfred Schopf, Chief Executive Officer of Leica Camera AG, was cited as saying that the company will seek to strengthen its brand in the next three to five years following a stock delisting in Germany. He added that getting listed in Hong Kong is a possibility for the company in the future, according to the report.

With the upcoming announcement of Leica S3, expect a price drop on the S2

Leica is rumored to announce the S2 replacement at Photokina. The new S3 is expected to also have a 37.5MP sensor but with improved characteristics. In the upcoming weeks/months the price of the S2 is expected to drop. Some rumors point to a $10k price tag (the current S2 price is $22,995.00). Leica may also introduce a new combo price for the S2 with the 70mm S lens.

Leica Camera’s stock is up 180%

Update: it seems that this was a glitch in the system because e price is back to normal now.

Leica Cameras’s stock (LCA1) jumped over 180% in the past few days. Since the company stock is not publicly traded, my understanding is that its price is calculated based on the value of the company – maybe somebody with financial background can elaborate. Could this just be a bug in the stock tracking system?
